Betel Leaves or the Latin name Piper betel, is a very popular plant in Viet Nam and have a lot of good benefits to our health.

This plant is used as a Herbal medicine in India since long. These plants grow vines or leaning on another tree, and may reach a height of 15 m. Betel leaf length is about 5-8 cm wide and 2-5 cm resembles a heart shape and bright green in color, Betel Leaves are valued both as a mild stimulant and for its medicinal properties. Betel leaf is mostly consumed in Asia, and in the worldwide by some Asian emigrants, as betel quid orPaan, always with tobacco, in an addictive psycho-stimulating and euphoria-inducing formulation with adverse health effects. The betel leaf is predominantly consumed as betel quid orpaan, which is a mixture of substances. The paan almost contains a betel leaf with two basic ingredients, either areca nut or tobacco or both, with lime (calcium hydroxide or calcium carbonate).

Descripton The Betel Leaf plant is a twining vine part of the pepper family, whose leaves yield an aromatic
essential oil. The cultivation of this creeper needs a lot of care and attention. Dryness and
exposure to the sun for too long a period can harm and plant. The heart-shaped leaves have a
 distinct pleasant aroma and are commonly chewed alone or with other plant materials.
Color Clear yellow to dark brown liquid.

Common Use The betel leaf essential oil is valued in Ayurveda as being stimulating, carminative, aromatic,
warming,  antiseptic and even as an aphrodisiac.
Odour The odour is distinctly Phenolic, almost Tar like or Smoky. Its flavour is Bitter Acrid, Warm &
 Unpleasantly Sharp biting.

Blends Well With Lavender, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Cardamom.
Aromatic Scent Distinctly phenolic smoky note, almost tar-like. A compound tentatively identified as chevibetol
is believed to have the greatest impact on the characteristic smoky aroma of betel leaf.
About Bergamot Oil The Betel Leaf plant grows widely over the entire area between South Arabia and Southeast China.
In India, Betel Leaf has historically been chewed to sweeten the breath and preserve the teeth.
Cautions No known toxicity. Avoid during pregnancy.
